Continued from title 25838, interview with Eddie Kamae recorded on August 29, 2009 in Punaluʻu, Oʻahu for the documentary "Those Who Came Before: The Musical Journey of Eddie Kamae." Kamae shares his farewell story to the granddaughter of Sam Liʻa Kalainaina as he sings "Nani Waipiʻo." Kamae also continues to share memories of his teachers Pilahi Paki and Mary Kawena Pukui, he talks about Paki's "matter of fact" personality and his last collaboration with Pukui titled "Kalaupapa." Also included in this video is Kamae's music research methodologies and the importance of and the relationship between visiting kūpuna and writing Hawaiian music.
