B-roll footage and interview with Mike Taviomi 5/23/2003

Interview and b-roll footage recorded on May 23, 2003 under the Bayan Tree in Lāhainā, Maui during the International Festival of Canoes for the documentary "Lahaina: Waves of Change." The first part of the video shows a young boy carving a dolphin into the gunwales of a canoe; Pekelo Cosmas' students from Baldwin High School sanding their canoe project; the granddaughter of Mike Taviomi dancing the ura (popular name of a dance in the Cook Islands). In the interview with Mike Tavioni, a Cook Island canoe carver, Tavioni talks about Cook Island culture and the importance of the waka (canoe).
