Interview with Akoni Akana recorded at Mokuʻula in Lāhainā on July 20, 1999 for the documentary "Lahaina: Waves of Change." In the interview Akana stands in front of a monument called pōhaku kāne (male stone) fronting Mokuʻula where aliʻi (chief) of Maui once ruled, including Kauikeaouli (Kamehameha III). Akana shares names of nā mauna (mountains), nā ahupuaʻa (land divisions), and nā akua (deities) which noho (dwell) in this area along with moʻolelo (stories/histories).
