Interview with Keoki Freeland in Lāhainā, Maui recorded on August 17, 1999 for the documentary "Lahaina: Waves of Change." Freeland worked for Pioneer Mill Company for 33 years, working his way up to General Manager and Vice President of the company before retiring in 1995. At the time of the interview Freeland was a part of the Lāhainā Restoration Foundation, which he talks about in this interview along with community groups such as Friends of Mokuʻula and Hui Waʻa Kaulua that collaborated on several projects for Lāhainā. Other topics discussed are his concerns about the changes that will come with the end of the sugar plantation era in Lāhainā; the influences his grandfather George Freeland had in Lāhainā; and the rich history of Lāhainā making it an ideal place to live.
