Akoni Akana site visit to Mokuʻula and the Sons of Hawaiʻi perform at Front Street recorded on August 29, 1999 for documentary "Lahaina: Waves of Change." B-roll footage of ceremonial oli (chant) and hula (dance) at the Friends of Mokuʻula site. Akoni Akana explains a little about the history of the royal family of Maui from the time of Piʻilani in the 14th century to the time of Kamehameha III (Kauikeaouli) in the 19th century, using Mokuʻula as their sanctuary while in Lāhainā. The second part is the Sons of Hawaiʻi performing across the street from Mokuʻula at 505 Front Street. Sons of Hawaiʻi members include Eddie Kamae, Pakelo Cosma, Claybourne "Braddah Smitty" Smith, and Charlie Mahi. Songs they perform include "Hanakeoki," "Ka Ua Loku," "Koali," and "ʻŌkolehao."
