Interview with Bill and Robert Kealiʻihoʻomalu 9/25/1993

Interviews with Bill and Robert Kealiʻihoʻomalu (separately) recorded on September 25, 1993 for the documentary "Luther Kahekili Makekau: A One Kine Hawaiian Man." The first interviewee, Bill, knew Luther Makekau the last three years of his life. Bill tells stories about Makekau and what he learned from him, including the Thanksgiving dinner they never received, but were thankful for what they had; and the Hawaiian style of giving and receiving. Next, Kealiʻihoʻomalu shares stories of his run-in with Luther Makekau in the Keaʻau and Kalapana areas. Stories include a time he saw Makekau at "Da Store" in Pāhoa; taking his horse into the bar with him; and Makekau being like the old west.
